About & Work

I'm a software engineer based in Yorkshire, with a professional life that can be summed up as "busy & varied".

I spend my days building, maintaining, and improving software systems, and my off-time with either horses, chainmail, bikes or barbells.

If you’re looking for someone who can ship code, stay calm when things go sideways, and still have enough energy left to dice vegetables from horse-back I’m probably your person.

International Burn Injury Database

UKs National Burn Registry

Built and maintained the application and centralised back-end, from a small bespoke burn injury database to the UKs mandated burn injury registry.

Bespoke Labelling Solution

Modernised a legacy Windows labelling app: refactored the codebase, built a bespoke patch panel designer and 2D WYSIWYG layout designer, and expanded the range and capability of data connectors.

A mix of clean code, big animals, swords & heavy lifts.

Building and improving systems with a focus on reliability, clarity, and ideally not waking up to WhatsApp messages at 3am.

Equestrian

Working with horses — timing, patience, armour and balance. Turns out those help in software projects too.

Weightlifting

Progressive overload in the gym and in skills — trying to make sure the deadlift goes up and bug count goes down.
